Proverbs 3: 21 – 26   (NLT)
 

^“ My child, don’t lose sight of common sense and discernment.
     Hang on to them,
²² for they will refresh your soul.
     They are like jewels on a necklace.
²³ They keep you safe on your way,
     and your feet will not stumble.
²⁴ You can go to bed without fear;
     you will lie down and sleep soundly.
²⁵ You need not be afraid of sudden disaster
     or the destruction that comes upon the wicked,
²⁶ for the Lord is your security.
     He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap.”

I really like these verses.  I don’t know about you, but I know that I can dream up the worst case scenarios in situations very well.  So I love it when God tells me to use common sense.  If I realize that God is my security and He will keep me from some horrendous trap, then I can calm down.  Keeping my focus in the right place has great rewards: a refreshed soul, safety, no stumbling, a good sleep, and no fears of oncoming disasters. I love it that God gave me my husband, Wayne, to remind me of all this. If ever someone had the ‘right’ to be nervous about what is about to happen, it was my husband.  He didn’t have an easy life over the last years of his life, but he was always so calm and had such common sense.  

My husband would tell me, “Audrey, use your head”, and God tells me “My child, don’t lose sight of common sense and discernment.  Hang on to them”.  

But the real clincher is “the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap.”   So have a great day, all of you!   Use your common sense and remember who has ‘got your back’.
