September 27 – It’s Just Me and You, God
By Audrey Bauman
Proverbs 14: 10 (NLT)
“Each heart knows its own bitterness,
and no one else can fully share its joy.”
This verse emphasizes to me the importance of my personal relationship to God. There is only one person who truly knows me – my Heavenly Father.
My husband and I had almost 50 years together. Like all marriages, it’s had its ups and downs, but overall, it was really good. He was my best friend and supporter. I also have a wonderful extended family – both on my side and on his. I have great friends too; I even still communicate with my best friends from high school. So, I definitely am grateful for all the love and support I’ve had over my life.
But, there are also times that I realize how lonely I really am. Those are the times that I cry out to my Heavenly Father for love, peace and support. No matter how many fabulous people surround me, if I am honest, they don’t really know me completely. It’s only to God that I openly admit without excuses that I’m scared or angry or frustrated; or excited about a possible opportunity; or nervous that I can’t live up to expectations of others. Only He knows my true joy and my deep hurts, and only He can help me become the person He wants me to be. I can’t imagine life without Him.
What about you?
Our song for today is Jesus Loves Me by Chris Tomlin.
