October 14 – Praise and Thank God
By Audrey Bauman
Psalm 100 (NLT)
“Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth!
2 Worship the Lord with gladness.
Come before him, singing with joy.
3 Acknowledge that the Lord is God!
He made us, and we are his.
We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving;
go into his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the Lord is good.
His unfailing love continues forever,
and his faithfulness continues to each generation.”
Can we ever thank God enough? So many times my prayers are requests, or statements of how much I need him in a certain situation. This psalm is just a wonderful expression of pure thankfulness. Let’s read it again and substitute a more personal thanksgiving. Read it slowly, and even repeat some of the lines as you thank God for loving you.
With everyone else on this earth, I shout out loud with joy that You are Lord!
I worship You with gladness.
I sing before you with joy.
YES - You are the Lord God!
You made me and I am Yours
I belong to You, and You are my shepherd
I come before You right now thanking you for ………. (fill in the blank)
I praise You because …. (fill in the blank with a characteristic of God)
You are so good to me
Your love never fails me and your love for me will continue forever
Thank You so much that Your love goes on to the generation after me. Thank You that You love …. (fill in the blanks with your family)
And if that’s not enough to thank Him for, read these verses and thank Him again:
Romans 8:35-39 (NLT)
“Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? … 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Our song for today is Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow by Hillsong Worship.
